ASSESSING SCHOOL SITES IN TUA CHUA DISTRICT: URGENT NEED FOR PERMANENT BOARDING HOUSES
We are thrilled to bring you the latest update from our recent field trip to Tua Chua district in Dien Bien province. Our dedicated project team embarked on this journey to assess the conditions of two schools and identify urgent needs for repair and construction. What we discovered during our journey was both inspiring and deeply concerning.
During our visit, we carefully evaluated each school site and engaged in extensive discussions with local educators, students, and community members. The findings revealed a pressing need for construction of new boarding houses to ensure a safe and conducive environment for the remote ethnic minority students.
Exploring Tua Chua District
Tua Chua district is a breathtakingly beautiful region, nestled amidst picturesque mountains and lush greenery. However, beneath its natural splendor lies the stark reality faced by many children in the area. We set out to visit two schools: Sinh Phinh 1 Primary School and Sinh Phinh 2 Primary School, each with its own unique challenges.

Urgent need for boarding rooms and sanitary facilities
Many students in these schools come from remote areas, making it difficult for them to commute daily. As a result, they rely on boarding houses to access education and stay connected with their peers. However, the current boarding facilities are temporary, inadequate, and unsuitable for their needs.
The temporary boarding rooms, often small and cramped, fail to provide a conducive environment for studying, resting, and nurturing personal growth. These temporary structures lack proper ventilation, sanitation facilities, and basic amenities. The living conditions pose health risks, compromise their well-being, and hinder their ability to focus on their studies.
In addition, the limited capacity of these temporary boarding houses forces many students to share tight spaces, compromising their privacy and creating overcrowded living conditions. This not only affects their physical health but also has an impact on their emotional well-being and overall learning experience.
It is clear that a sustainable solution is needed to provide the students with safe and permanent boarding houses that foster an environment conducive to learning, growth, and holistic development.
Through our school construction project, we aim to build new, permanent boarding houses that will address these critical needs. These boarding houses will not only provide a safe and comfortable living space but also include essential amenities such as proper sanitation facilities, study areas, and recreational spaces. By creating an enabling environment, we can empower these students to thrive academically and embrace their full potential.
