2025 - NEW YEAR, NEW PROJECTS
At the end of 2024, VFE conducted in-depth evaluation trips to three different primary schools - including Ta Phin, Sin Chai, and Ta Sin Thang - in Tua Chua district, an impoverished area belonging to Dien Bien province. Visiting onsite and listening to the principals’ sharing, we have found that these schools really need our help and they deserve to have better facilities for the local students.
Let’s have a look at more details about the 3 lovely schools.
1. Ta Phin Primary School
Located about 30 km from the district center and in an impoverished mountainous area, Ta Phin Primary School serves 520 students, including 307 boarding ones. All of them are Mong locals.
With a large number of students, the school lacks many basic facilities (classrooms, boarding rooms, restrooms, and kitchen) to function well. It is very sad to see that they are still using basic temporary construction to serve the students.
2. Sin Chai Primary School
Sin Chai Primary School belongs to Sin Chai commune. It takes about one hour and a half to travel from the Tua Chua center to this school. In this school year, there are 670 students, 504 of whom are boarding ones. The number of boarding students is expected to be 530 next school year. Similar to Ta Phin Primary School, 100% of the students are Mong people.
The school has faced many difficulties with the infrastructure to serve the large number of students. Classrooms, boarding rooms, toilets, and showers are crucial for them to ensure a good education.
3. Ta Sin Thang Primary School
Ta Sin Thang Primary School is situated in Ta Sin Thang commune. Most of the locals are Mong people, who mainly work very hard in the fields to earn a living. Currently, the school serves 670 students, including 483 boarding students. This number is estimated to increase to 700 in the next school year.
With a huge number of students, this school is using 6-8 temporary classrooms and 1 big temporary boarding room. Besides, there are some classrooms located in a high-risk landslide zone, which is very dangerous for the teachers and students. Here are some original photos.
As you can see, all these three school sites are considerably in need of our support to have better conditions. VFE is evaluating all resources and finalizing the top priorities to conduct in 2025. We look forward to receiving your valuable support to help bring better education to children in rural mountainous areas.
