Project: Sin Chai Primary School

  • Location: Tua Chua district
  • Status: FUNDRAISING

Background Information

Driving nearly one hour and a half from the district center, we reach Sin Chai commune in a foggy and cold condition. It is the furthest commune in the northern region of Tua Chua district, with high mountainous terrain and difficult transportation.
Accounting for 99.7% of the residents, Mong locals mainly farm for their living (1 rice season per year). Until 2025, 356 households are considered poor, taking up 36.3%, and 283 households are near poor, accounting for 28.8%. The average income is 2 million VND/person/year, and the educational level has improved in recent years.

Located in the center of Sin Chai commune, this school year, Sin Chai Primary School serves 670 students, 504 of whom are boarding students in the school. The number of boarding students is expected to be 530 next school year. With a large number of students, sadly, the school lacks lots of infrastructure. Especially regarding boarding houses, 144 students are staying in 01 temporary room this year.

Difficulties

Facility difficulties at the school:
  • 02 temporary classrooms in the boarding house area.
  • 01 old single-storey building with 11 permanent boarding rooms has been used since 2013. 05 temporary boarding rooms are in the nearby secondary school (200 meters away).
  • 01 permanent toilet with 04 compartments in the main campus. For boarding students, they use a temporary construction with only one section for showering.

VFE Project at Sin Chai Primary School

After conducting thorough field assessments, VFE identified Sin Chai Primary School as a priority for improvement. This project aims to enhance the school's infrastructure and learning environment through the following items:
The proposed design plan is to centralize all boarding-related facilities, including the boarding house, restrooms, showers, and kitchen, in one designated area.
  • Boarding rooms: 08-12 rooms (2-3 floors with 4 rooms on each floor).
  • Toilets and showers: 06 toilets / 04 showers in the boarding area, 04 more toilets in the main campus.
The construction is expected to start by March 2025 and be completed in 04 months.
