Background Information
Muong Khong commune is one of the 18 especially difficult communes in Tuan Giao district, located more than 20 km from the district center. The commune consists of seven villages, covering a natural area of over 10,000 hectares.
As of 2023, the commune had 976 households with a total population of 3,799 people, of which 48.2% are classified as poor households and 16.9% as near-poor households. Over 99% of the population consists of Thai and Hmong ethnic groups. Transportation is extremely challenging, especially during the rainy season.
Hua Sat Primary School
Hua Sat Primary School is located 34 km from the center of Tuan Giao district, serving a community where 100% of the students are Hmong.
The school has two classes, with 34 students, and a projected stable enrollment ranging from 29 to 38 students in the coming years. Despite this consistency, the school faces significant challenges, with 60% of its students coming from poor households.
Current facilities at the school include:
- Two temporary classrooms that have been in use since 2016
- One temporary toilet shared by both teachers and students
- A partially cemented playground constructed by parents.
